About Excel Zone
Excel Zone publishes free Excel tutorials in eight languages. Each article answers a specific question you run into in front of a spreadsheet: counting cells that meet a condition, finding a value in a table, removing duplicates, building a dashboard.
Who runs the site
The site is published by Valentin, based in Paris. The tutorials are written by Emma and Mohamed. The publisher’s full contact details are in the legal information.
How the tutorials are written
- A worked example for every method. Each formula is shown on a small table of data, together with the result it should return. You can download the sample workbook.
- Checked results. Every result quoted in an article is recalculated on the sample data before it goes live.
- Common errors. A tutorial does not stop at the case where everything works: it also explains where #N/A, #VALUE! or a result of 0 comes from.
- Articles kept up to date. When Excel changes (XLOOKUP, dynamic array functions), the articles concerned are extended. The date of the last update is shown at the top of each page.
A version for each language of Excel
In an English version of Excel, the function is called COUNTIF and its arguments are separated by commas. In a French version, it is NB.SI with semicolons; in German, ZÄHLENWENN. A word-for-word translation would give you formulas that do not work. So each version of a tutorial is written for the version of Excel used in that country: function names, separators, menu labels and examples are all adapted.
Independence
The site carries no advertising, no sponsored links and no audience tracking tools. Excel Zone has no connection with Microsoft.
